  • Items to decide before choosing a house design:

    Affordability

  • Size

  • Style

  • Quality of Finish

  • Financing

  • Categories that affect pricing:

Foundation type (basement, crawl or slab)

  • Amount of cathedral space

  • Style of timber frame

  • Type and quantity of windows

  • Siding and roofing choices

  • Type and location of your building site (Including distance from roads and utilities)

  • Sloped sites and heavily wooded sites are more costly to develop than flat, level sites

  • Shape of your home

  • Numerous corners, dormers, roof valleys and other design features

  • The time of year a house is built also plays an important role in final construction costs

  • These are just some of the major items affecting cost. When designing your home, it is very important to have a budget range that is realistic.
